Safe Route training provides transportation drivers with essential education to prevent sexual assault and support survivors effectively. This curriculum focuses on establishing clear boundaries, recognizing warning signs of misconduct, and utilizing bystander intervention strategies to maintain a safe environment for both drivers and passengers. Participants learn to prioritize safety over politeness, empowering them to end rides if they feel threatened or observe inappropriate behavior. The training includes specialized modules on trauma-informed responses, ensuring that drivers can offer sensitive support to survivors after an incident occurs. Drivers are equipped with a directory of survivor resources, including direct links to our local 24 hr Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners hotline and the RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline for 24/7 confidential help. At its core, it’s:
“Everyone deserves to go out, have fun, and get home safe.”
